THERAPY SERVICES
Ayres Sensory Integration Therapy
We offer Ayres Sensory Integration Therapy, a specialist holistic approach designed to support children who experience sensory processing challenges, enabling them to better navigate and engage with the world around them.

Developed by Dr. A. Jean Ayres, a pioneering Occupational Therapist, ASI is an evidence-based therapy that helps children understand, organise, and respond to sensory input in a more adaptive way. Sensory input includes everything we experience through touch, movement, sound, sight, smell, and more. For some children, difficulties in processing these inputs can impact their daily life, including their ability to communicate, play, and learn.
ASI is beneficial for children who struggle with the following:
-
Concentrating on tasks and processing language
-
Following verbal instructions or copying information such as song actions or
-
LEGO structures
-
Organising themselves to get things done and organising what they say in an
-
Understandable sequence
-
Learning new skills quickly
-
Making and maintaining friendships
-
Managing their behaviour and emotions
-
Low self-esteem and anxiety

A child’s sensory processing differences may be associated with conditions such as:
-
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
-
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
-
Speech Sound Disorders
-
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
Sophie Williams is a certified Sensory Integration Practitioner, she holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Sensory Integration accredited from Sheffield Hallam University and is listed on the SI Practitioners’ Register.

ASI sessions are child-centred and play-based, conducted in a specially designed environment equipped with sensory tools like swings, climbing equipment, and textured surfaces. Therapists create opportunities for your child to experience and
adapt to sensory challenges in a safe and supportive space. By targeting the root of sensory processing challenges, ASI enables children to build a strong foundation for skills like communication, social interaction, and academic success.
Through engaging and fun activities tailored to your child's specific needs, ASI helps to:
-
Improve sensory processing and integration.
-
Enhance motor planning and coordination.
-
Boost attention and focus.
-
Foster emotional regulation and self-confidence.
The Role of ASI in Speech and Language Development
At Nurture, we integrate sensory insights into our therapy practices.
For some children, sensory challenges can significantly affect their ability to focus, process language, or interact socially.
ASI complements speech and language therapy by addressing these foundational sensory needs, ensuring more effective and meaningful communication outcomes.
Partnering with Families
We recognise the vital role parents and caregivers play in their child’s development.
Our ASI-informed approach empowers families with strategies to support sensory
integration at home, ensuring progress extends beyond the therapy room.
